Background

We have lived in the Mendip area for a few years; Nikki in Wells and Gil in Cranmore then just outside Wells

Moving to the area, we were amazed at the number and variety of "things to do" in and around the Mendips. Unfortunately we usually found out about them after they had happened. It was a bit frustrating.

The What's About Guide was born as a way of finding out about all the things to do in advance.

The first magazine was produced in June 2009. Watching the first one "hit the streets" was nerve wracking ... would people pick up a copy ... would they like it. Fortunately we have had some wonderful feedback, for which we are truly grateful.

The What's About Guide is continuing to grow and we are continuing to love collecting and providing this information. We also love meeting our readers, distributors and advertisers. Gil seems to spend a large amount of time meeting the distributors (many of whom are pubs!)

If you have any ideas how we can improve the magazine and the website we would love to hear from you

Nikki and Gil

Can you help?

Please let us know if you would like to help with any of the following things

* Distribution in the Frome area

* Advertising Sales

* Writing articles of the "oo that's interesting" or "oo I didn't know that" variety

* Ferreting out details of local events or performers and passing them on to us

The future ..

Our main priority is for the What's About Guide in Mendip to continue to grow and flourish

We are starting to be asked whether we are going to produce magazines in other areas. We do not have the time to do this ourselves but would be very interested to talk to anyone interested in producing a What’s About Guide in their local area.

We have the business, administration, Desk Top Publishing and website support … we just need a person who is a natural ferret for information and who enjoys talking to other people and who is not scared of sales. If you know a sociable, selling ferret, please let us know.
